Tutorial - Simple Accessories & Resources for such

Quick Tutorial - simple accessories

So a ton of people ask me about my rings when they see them and my hair clips. I am super all about cheap and easy and I get the pieces I like from shops like etsy, usually mentioned on here, and then I assemble them with glue and blank pieces.

So what are my pieces made of? Internet calls them cabochons but they are essential adorable pieces with a flat back, the flat back allows you to glue them to things. You can use them for deco, make your own, etc

Via Wikipedia:

"A cabochon, from the Middle French caboche (head), is a gemstone which has been shaped and polished as opposed to faceted. The resulting form is usually a convex top with a flat bottom"

So...where can you get these pieces?

Etsy sellers have a lot of unique pieces, plus you can be picky and get exactly the right piece you want. You can also purchase in bulk on a website called Aliexpress.com - this is a website that allows you to purchase stuff from over seas in bulk at pretty good prices.

So what is a good price? For Cabochon's you want to aim for around .10 a piece ( USD ) or if you are after smaller quantities get what you want - I have paid for lollipops like crazy - I LOVE lollipops.

*cough* anyway, here is a sample of what I got from there

I ordered these, $40 for about 150 pieces, around .10 each. I asked for any deco adorableness and I got a TON of really good pieces I intend to make into molds. Others are cakes I will turn into rings and such. The one on the right, the ice cream scoop, I will turn into a ring below.

So now, where to get the supplies to make these pieces, again etsy is a great resource, your local hobby shop will probably have some as well. Amazon also sells them in bulk. They have different types but I like this type shown below. Hair clips are also in variety, some have bobby pins. I like the snap kind. I feel like they hold in place better.   I got these from Micheal's or Hobby Lobby usually. They are not expensive but I love to use them so I try to keep them on hand.

I use simple glue, xP from Kmart but it works well - coat generously - also do not glue
yourself to things - I often get stuck to the toothpicks I use.

Be sure to let dry and huzzah - easy ring

Super cute whip cream Cabochon

I had to hold this in place or it would have not stayed, be careful do
not glue yourself with it - !

Be sure to let them dry overnight before regular use!
Just to be sure, also that would hurt if it got caught in your hair.

I hope this was helpful, and it opened a few new resources for you - in bulk and in etsy
these items are super easy to add to everyday attire and add a hint of cuteness

Also keep note, keep your eye out for cute stuff in stores, one of my favorite clips is
a chip clip shaped like a super cute bow from Target. It was in the $1 stuff
